Coming all the way from an almost secret inner world, it’s dreamy and uplifting to be able to share this!
This is a document of a certain way of producing music i’ve refined since I was a kid. I’ve been layertracking on my own, on an 16-track harddiscrecorder for making sketches and made countless tracks, and at one point I decided that it deserved to have a space as is it’s own real artform.
There is a certain closeness and intimacy in these kinds of recordings, that for me can’t be reached in a more standartized studio.
Over the years, this technique has developed it’s own lo-fi language of warm and buzzing guitars and vocals, perforated drums, weird ambience and cracks from the room.
Instead of going for something more standard I chose to fulfill this aesthetic, and I’m so proud to finally share it wholeheartedly.
Everything is written and recorded intuitively and every single song is a capture of a certain moment, deepdiving into a pocket, like freezing an atmosphere. The songs were often recorded all the layers in a row within the same day, building it up from the drums w the song playing inside the head.
The whole project has also worked as a getaway from the city, most of the album is recorded in a tiny wooden hut in the South of Jutland. Besides being an experimental deepdive into lo-fi production, it has also been a deepdive into the nature I grew up in, searching to describe a sense of belonging. And after being away from it for a long while, I was coming back looking at it with new eyes and digging for some kind of round-up, to understand the atmospheres that have been the source of my first musical inspiration.
It’s like seeing your past selves and and surroundings, you walking beside them looking from the outside, parallel on more axes.
Parallel Extreme refers to this exploration. Parallel, as in simply being in your self-created universe. Exploring the joy and ecstasy of the free feeling and thrilling sense of curiosity it brings.
Now when I finally made a document of this inner room, that I have, for a long time, clinged to as my inner core-understading of my musical identity, releasing this also means letting go of hanging on to these childhood memories as a main source of inspiration and accepting that I am also drifting away from this source and making space for multible new inner rooms and new even bigger sources!
